SAILING THERAPY

Coming Soon: Sailing Therapy – Healing on the Water

In addition to my work as a therapist, I’m also a lifelong sailor with a deep appreciation for the healing power of nature. Soon, I’ll be offering Sailing Therapy — a unique, experiential approach that combines the calming rhythm of the sea with the insight and support of psychotherapy.

Sailing Therapy takes place aboard a sailboat, offering clients a peaceful, dynamic environment to explore personal growth, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and self-trust. The experience of being on the water fosters a sense of freedom, resilience, and connection — both with yourself and the world around you.

Whether you’re working through anxiety, grief, life transitions, or just feeling stuck, this nature-based approach invites you to navigate both literal and emotional currents with guidance and compassion.

Stay tuned for more details about session availability, location, and how to reserve your spot.

I can’t wait to welcome you aboard.

Sailing Therapy:

Where Healing Meets the Horizon

  • Sailing Therapy is a powerful, embodied therapeutic experience that brings together traditional mental health practices and the restorative elements of nature — wind, water, movement, and presence. This service is designed for individuals seeking a deeper connection to themselves, others, and the natural world, particularly those who feel stuck in talk therapy or are craving a more holistic, sensory-integrated healing process.

As a licensed therapist and experienced sailor, I guide clients through therapeutic sessions aboard a sailboat — creating a safe, dynamic space for growth, reflection, and nervous system regulation. Sailing Therapy is not about learning to sail (though you are welcome to participate in the sailing process), but about allowing the rhythm of the water, the fresh air, and the simplicity of the boat to support your therapeutic goals.

  • The body and mind respond to natural environments in profound ways. Research supports the therapeutic benefits of “blue space” — time spent on or near water — which can help reduce stress, improve mood, regulate emotions, and increase overall well-being. On a sailboat, therapy becomes a full-bodied experience: grounding, liberating, and deeply attuned to the present moment.

Clients often report that Sailing Therapy helps them:

    • Feel more relaxed and open than in a traditional therapy office

    • Access deeper emotional insight and clarity

    • Reconnect with their sense of agency, courage, and curiosity

    • Practice mindfulness and nervous system regulation

    • Explore life transitions, grief, trauma, or burnout in a new and transformative way

  • Sailing Therapy is appropriate for adults and older teens who are comfortable on the water and are interested in an alternative, nature-centered therapy approach. It may be especially helpful for:

    • Individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm

    • People going through major life changes, identity exploration, or relationship shifts

    • Those seeking trauma-informed, somatic, or mindfulness-based care

    • Neurodivergent clients who benefit from movement, sensory grounding, and nontraditional spaces

    • Anyone craving space to reconnect with their body, intuition, or creative spirit

  • Sessions take place on a sailboat in calm local waters. We’ll begin with an orientation and grounding practice, then ease into therapeutic conversation or guided somatic work, all while sailing (or anchored, if preferred). You are welcome to simply be present and reflect, or to engage more actively with the sailing experience.

No sailing experience is required, and all safety equipment is provided. Comfort, accessibility, and emotional safety are always prioritized.

    • Session Length: 90 minutes to 2 hours
