Free Consultation
This 15-minute phone call is a chance for us to get to know each other and see if working together feels like a good fit. You’re welcome to ask any questions you have, and we’ll briefly talk about what’s bringing you to therapy at this time. If it feels right for you, we can schedule your first session at the end of the call—but there’s no pressure. -
Client Portal
Appointments and paperwork are scheduled through my online electronic medical record software, SimplePractice. Once we have spoken and scheduled your first appointment, you will receive a link to set up your account and complete your paperwork. This account can also handle communication with me, appointment confirmation, and payments.

FIRST SESSION
The initial appointment is typically 53 - 60 minutes. This is billed as an intake appointment, otherwise known as a Biopsychosocial or a Psychiatric evaluation, and billed under the insurance code 90791. This session is a time for us to get to know one another and for me to gather more information about you and your interest in seeking psychotherapy. I will ask you to share what is bringing you to therapy, and I will also ask you a variety of questions about your past and present experiences, general functioning, and goals for treatment.

What to Expect in Your First Session
We usually begin with a grounding question: “What do you want to make sure we get to today?”—but how we start is flexible and will always honor your communication style, processing pace, and preferences. Therapy is a space for you to be fully yourself. Throughout our time together, I’ll regularly check in to make sure our work continues to feel relevant, respectful, and supportive of your unique goals, needs, and ways of being.

I approach counseling with reverence. Through discussion of needs and goals, we will embark on a treatment plan that is a collaboration of my skills and knowledge and your comfort zone.
You are encouraged to share honestly about whatever you find helpful—and not so helpful—throughout counseling. I use approaches that are supported by science, including:
cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
trauma-informed (T-CBT)
dialectical behavioral (DBT) skills
holistic therapy
humanistic therapy
narrative therapy
gender-affirming therapy
queer-affirming therapy
acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
solution-focused therapy (SFBT)
bibliotherapy
ecotherapy
Please note, due to being an independent provider without wrap-around care, I do not provide crisis management, housing, legal (e.g., evaluations for court or other judicial proceedings), or medication services. I also am unable to offer services to those who are actively suicidal. If this is the type of care you require, I can refer you to a larger clinic or organization with more staff and support to help provide you with a more comprehensive level of care.
